o Last night we made more pinwheel cookies, thirty total. I think this batch is better. I removed the crushed candy canes from the recipe since they are pure corn syrup, and left in the peppermint extract for flavor. Yummy. I plan to mail these out tomorrow and Saturday. In fact this weekend I need to mail everything out. I’ll bring a book to stand in line with, don’t care about the wait.
o Speaking of books, I have been reading a book for work on the train this week. It’s called “JSTL in Action.” It’s a real barrel of laughs. I am learning all about JSP, JSTL, XHTML, XML, and basic Java for work. I am finding it interesting, but difficult to absorb all at once. There’s SO much to learn, but it’s such a new and exciting way to build a website that I am eager to start using it. I love the dynamic, intuitive stuff.
o Went swimming this morning, only thirteen laps because I was doing a bunch of flip turns and kept re-doing them. Also I don’t have a lot of strength today. Worried I might be getting sick? Ugh.
o I got my tooth-whitening kit from my dentist. They made trays that are form-fitted to my teeth. You put the whitening solution into the trays and wear them overnight for ten nights. Excited for that, but here’s what I’m not excited about — the five things I can’t have during the ten-day process:
COFFEE
red wine
tea
brown colas
citrus
Seriously. Ten days without coffee? Oh the headaches I will have. I suppose it will be good for me. I will start this January first, methinks.

Do not try to go cold turkey on the caffeine. Taper down and you may avoid most of the agonies of withdrawal.

Very good idea. So, about fifteen days total. Pretty much exactly like quitting.
sob
Iced coffee through a straw is allowed. At least when I did it. Downside is, teeth get sensitive during the process and brrr, cold.
Also they sell caffeinated water around these parts. CAFFEINE ITS WHATS FOR BREAFAST
Good luck and be strong!
It is so hard to give up. I gave it up through the weaning method last May. I weaned for two weeks and then quit – very minimal withdrawal symptoms.
It is still hard when I smell yummy coffee though – decaf isn’t quite the same. On the other hand, if I have half a cup of coffee, I feel like I’m jumping out of my skin – so I just don’t drink it.
