my dress

December 31, 2004 by Jane

I watched a few TLC shows today, as one does, particularly a show called “The Perfect Dress” which is 100% about a couple of brides doing their gown shopping. That’s it.

Having been through all that, I could relate, so I ate it up. I thought some of the dresses chosen were kinda eh. One girl picked out a $500 gown from David’s Bridal or something, which made me get all snobby and “omg what a crappy dresssss.” This other tall blonde willow of a girl picked out a $4,000 gown after literally trying on 40 dresses that all looked PERFECT on her sticklike figure.

The gown shopping was fun for me, despite the ups and downs and indecision. Three-plus months later, I still know I picked the perfect dress for me. And I miss it so much! I’m going crazy waiting for them to tell me it has been delivered and I can come in for a fitting. Waaaah. I was so seriously in love with it. And I keep hearing from everyone who goes through this that it’s true, as soon as you put it on, you just “know.” There were a couple other gowns I came close to getting, but none of them looked as right as the one I finally chose, and the one I chose gave me zero doubts — unlike those other two.

Lalala wheeee girly talk.

Brian and I have been having a nice rainy day. We just made burritos and watched Anderson Cooper on the tv and are just going to chill out tonight (the party we had planned to go to was canceled). I will probably wear my tooth trays again tonight… despite the fact that this morning I had a couple bouts of pain that were so intense it really felt like I had been kicked in the face. And my sleep is being disrupted by this. Oh hell, I can take one night off from it, right?

The pain means it’s working!

Hey, I hope each and every one of you reading this has a happy, prosperous, and peaceful 2005. Let’s all think about that and make it come true.
