At 5:45 this morning, Sasha decided that it was time to practice the one-cat show he is writing in his kitty mind. It apparently involves lots of chatter, running, leaping into the bathtub, and scurrying back to the litter box to scratch around repeatedly. He’s a talkative cat, and of course adorable. But I really wanted him to shut up.

I went in and out of dreams. One of the later ones I had involved hanging out with my pal Will Ferrell. He offered to let me drive his flashy new car. I pointed out to him that his car was four colors; red on the front right, orange on the back right, blue on the front left, and black on the back left. I started driving it and had trouble working the brakes, so almost drove into a house. The street we were on was inhabited almost exclusively by old women wearing headscarves. Cuckoo!

But then I woke up, and got up. As one often does in this city of micro-mini climates, I miscalculated the weather. The seasons are in transition, and for months I have been leaving the house every day wearing some kind of warm coat. Also our house is in shade most of the time, so it led me to believe I should go out into the sunshine in my long black coat and a scarf.

As you can imagine, by the time I got on the train, both scarf and coat had been crammed into my gym bag. I felt rather idiotic. It’s just that San Francisco can get bitingly chilly at a moment’s notice. There is little predictability.

I listen to KFOG every morning as I get ready, and in all the months I have been doing so, I never knew or even really suspected that the main DJ guy is gay. He mentioned it matter-of-factly today and it made me damn happy. I wonder what would happen if Anderson Cooper did that. Oh that’s right, his show would be cancelled. America! Land of the free! Except only the exact opposite of that!

Today at work: lunchtime meeting. Zzzzzzzz.

The French Class I want to take begins pretty much right when we get back from the honeymoon. So it’s either do that, or wait until July for the next round. I don’t think I want to wait. There are also two-week knitting classes I want to take at the Urban Knitting shop, but those will wait until after I’ve finished my green scarf.

I’m really excited for next Monday; girl’s night out with Tamara! We’re going shopping of course. Being friends with her has really brought out my girly side over the last four years. I love Tamara… I think that if and when we move to Chicago she will be one of the people I miss the very most.

Ollie is working on an action/adventure screenplay about knocking everything off of the kitchen table in one mis-angled jump. There is an exciting sub-plot involving a daring heist of earplugs and guitar picks.

Cha Cha is rehearsing an experimental one-cat street-theatre piece in which he gets shut in the kitchen cabinet while sleeping.
