I somehow like Rosie’s blog better since she deactivated comments. It’s completely hers again, and not a dumping ground for uncomfortably familiar overpraise and anonymous bile. It’s just a blog, written by a person. Well-written. You should read it.
I remember when she was a presenter on VH1 in the 80s. She had yuge hair.
So acupuncture today kicked my ass. He left the needles in a long time and I fell asleep. I love that feeling. So cozy and relaxed, can’t even feel the pins. Afetrward I got a brief massage and plum blossom, which is pins tapped along the skin to increase bloodflow in a local area. Tap tap tap like ant bites.
As I was getting dressed I noticed that there was still one needle stuck in my right leg. He must have missed it — it happens on occasion. I looked at it hanging there in my skin, and I couldn’t even feel it. Then I pulled it out and put it in my purse. It’s so thin and light, and the top is a springy wee coil.
Last night I was visited again by a wedding dream. It was very detailed, with a sense of time and place. But I don’t remember that much now. There I was at the wedding, holding my vows in my hand, looking around. I saw Ert in her lilac dress, but where was Tamara? I fretted. I looked for the photographer. I found my bouquet on a chair, it’s dark pink calla lilies. I realize I am wearing the wrong dress; I’m wearing some kind of nightgown. I realize it is a dream and try to gain full control over reality — I go outside and twirl around, trying to “will” myself to be in my correct gown, by magic. It doesn’t work. Oh well.
For spring, I am on a quest for shoes that are Feminine and Comfortable. This is a difficult task, usually. I have found that feminine shoes are rarely comfortable and comfortable shoes are rarely feminine. Why is that? By “feminine” I mean that they use color and have a nice shape and a non-chunky sole. By “comfortable” I mean they do not have a high heel or material that bites into the foot. So you see the paradox.
I have these black Dansko clogs I wear all the time, they are my ugly shoes, Frankenstein feet, clunky chunky clogs. I wanted to find their equivalent in something that actually flatters my feet a little. Maybe I’ve been watching too much “What Not to Wear”?
Anyways, I think I found the shoes I want. These shoes, by Clarks.
In other shopping news, I might have to temporarily suspend my boycott of Macy’s next week as Tamara called me today to tell me that they have some killer cardigans in the INC section. Also Macy’s happens to be the only place around here one can buy the Biotherm skincare line, and my mom sent me some really nice samples of their stuff for xmas. PLUS they carry a lip gloss that is, unlike the MAC lip gloss, not sticky. So boo hoo hoo! Oh my awful problems! Maybe I will shop under protest, wearing a big arm band or something.
So, is it insane that we are buying a new car right before the wedding? We don’t think so! What a perfect excuse to break it in — a long road trip. And what a great way to not throw away hundreds of dollars on a rental car, and instead spend it on something we are keeping. Which reminds me, we are going to have to seriously clear out the space in the garage for our new baby.

shoes
Shoes are difficult. People weren’t meant to walk in them really. I have a pair of sanita black cloggs that I wear to work, that don’t really look like cloggs. They have a lighter sole, a closed back and mary-jane type style. They are extremely comfy not to mention healthy, its almost like not having to wear shoes at all. Having said that I don’t think I would wear them with a skirt, as the soles are a bit clunky. If you find a nice closed back shoe, one trick is to put cushy liners in them, ones that are made for athletic shoes so they offer both support and cushioning.
yay!
jane! i applied for two graphic design bannana republic jobs this weekend- i want to move back home to the bay so awfully! olivia told me i should message you- i had no idea you worked for GAP- do you know anyting about this?

I don’t know any thing about it… Gap is a pretty large company 🙂 And I don’t work in the design division, especially if it’s print design. Good luck with it though! It’s a good company to work for esp if you like things like stability and benefits.
i do! i do! thank you for your advice jane 🙂
