Hey! I have a great idea that will stop the war in Iraq! Here’s what we’ll do! Let’s all meet at Dolores Park on Saturday and have a “march”! We’ll have drum circles and blast reggae music and the Free Mumia people will show up and everything! Bring your dog! We can make signs! That’ll show em! An anti-war rally in the most liberal neighborhood in the most liberal city in the whole country! This is going to work for sure!! I can’t believe we didn’t think of this before!

I am not making that up, btw. There are posters all over the city that say “US out of Iraq – Mar 19 Dolores Park.” And the above paragraph describes perfectly the awesome world-changing power of such a gathering. It’s the very epitome of preaching to the choir.

Anyway. I am all excited about the French language school my boss told me about this morning. Three hundred bucks gets you eight weeks of intense weekend instruction, small classes, and according to my boss, no use of English. Bring it on. My two years of high school French (which I aced) should be enough to get me started. The session just started a couple weeks ago, so I will take the next one as long as it doesn’t start whilst I am honeymooning.

I really want to go to Paris. I have been there before, but for so brief a time (a matter of hours) I don’t remember that much. Almost all of my time in France was spent in the mountain town of Grenoble.

This weekend was nice, though I did miss Brian who was at a special martial arts seminar. I did a few things around the house and went shopping, pretty much. Bought a nice blue suede bag secondhand, and hopefully it can be cleaned at my drycleaner’s, because it has some unfortunate marks along the edges.

Today is windy. My hair is clean and flies around in it. On my lunch break I went to the Ferry Building Market and bought a lot of chocolate from Scharffen Berger. It’s all for the outta town wedding guests’ hotel rooms. The wonderful people at S.B. also gave me a couple dozen of those wee heavy-paper yarn-handled shopping bags too, to use as gift bags. Everyone should try their chocolate — it’s the best in the City. Much, much better than Ghirardelli.

Do the wedding out-of-towners who are not staying in a hotel also get to sample the awesome chocolate too??

Jesse and I might actually get a hotel room through your reservation/room block. I’ve gotta see how Ursy & Tim’s move goes. If they’re feeling settled and okay with us staying there, we’ll do it. Unfortunately, she was having bad luck with finding a place the last time I talked with her.

I’m so stoked on this trip/event. It’s SO cold here. I just got off of the phone with Midwest Express, requesting bulk head seats for me (5’10”) and Jesse (6’6″).

Well you have til the end of next week to snag a room. But you should be able to find rooms under $90 easy. People have been finding rooms at the Powell for $80 or even $60 a night, and as I have seen in person, this is a very nice hotel. My brother used an “entertainment book” — which I guess has coupons? — to get that low rate there. So look around online for low rates at the Powell and if you see anything lower than $89, call them, tell them you’re with our wedding, and ask them to match that rate. Maybe you could stay 2-3 nights at the hotel and an extra night or two with Ursula?
