tenacious bride

April 4, 2005 by Jane

Happy thing of the day: the bridesmaid shoe drama has been settled. Haha. See, we were trying to agree on this silver shoe for them to wear, right? Because it goes with everything and so on. But damn it was hard to find silver colored shoes that were (a) not a spike stiletto heel, and (b) not ugly, and (c) not $200. It was becoming a bit of a pain. But a few weeks ago, Tam and I went shopping and we saw these lilac-colored Franco Sarto shoes, with a little bit of cheetah print on them, even. They were cute and I said “those should be the shoes!” but we didn’t know if Ert would like them, and they are definitely non-trad bridesmaid shoes, but who cares, right? They are so cute! Anyway she didn’t get them and we continued our efforts to find a silver shoe.

Meanwhile cut to this weekend at my bridal shower, and it turns out Tamara went ahead and bought the purple shoes anyway. And they looked GREAT with the dress. And Ert liked them! So we thought ok, Ert can return the lame silver shoes she got on Saturday, and pick up a pair of these ones.

Until I started looking around for them. No online retailer had them. I called a half-dozen stores in the Bay Area, no one had them, and not in Ert’s size. One Nordstrom even told me that they had sent their whole stock of that style back to the vendor. The crazy purple cheetah print shoe had disappeared! I even went so far as to email the manufacturer and ask for their help. I am such a bride.

Finally I just started calling other Nordstrom stores. Maybe that guy at Stonestown didn’t know what he was talking about. In fact, he definitely didn’t. I finally called the store in Palo Alto, and sure enough, they had a pair. WHEW. NOW MY WEDDING WILL BE PERFECT! snort! They are shipping them to me and I’ll get them in a couple days hopefully. Everyone wins.

I would link to a photo, but apparently no photo exists of this shoe.

Should I dye the lavender creme to match?

HA. Mmmmmmmm no. Dyeable shoes and dyeable anything is so past where I draw the line.

I forgot to mention Saturday — we just happen to be planning to use lavender as one of the flowers on the buffet tables. So you and Rebecca and Marian (florists) can come up with something cool, I reckon.
