Honeymoo dispatch! So where was I. Ah yes, the wedding. I can’t believe how well everything went. The only minor snafu was that some of the guests found Stephen’s desserts irresistible before they had officially been served, but who can blame them?
So anyway, the ceremony. I walked up the aisle with my dad, and really barely even saw all the guests. I just smiled like an idiot and looked at Brian. The train of my gown swept up some of the little white flowers that had been sprinkled all over the aisle. I got to the end and hugged my dad and handed my gorgeous bouquet to my maid of honor, Ert. Then Dave Zibell started the ceremony. We read our vows to each other, and I had to try really hard not to just bust out crying as I read mine. My voice was very trembly but I managed to hang on.We said “I do.” Then we gave each other the rings, and Dave wrapped it up by pronouncing us man & wife. We kissed, everyone cheered, wooo! Then we hustled down the aisle together to the song “I Will.” I saw our excellent photographer out of the corner of my eye snapping our picture.
Brian and I ran upstairs together and, well, you know, had a few minutes alone, which was just my favorite since I hadn’t gotten to spend any time with him in more than 24 hours it seemed. It was pretty romantic. Then we went downstairs to take pictures together and otherwise mingle with everyone.
It was just so great to see all my friends, my family, and my new family, all in one place. I did my best to chat with everyone, but it was hard, of course. Dinner was served and was as yummy as expected (cucumber radish salad, potatoes au gratin with gruyere, salmon with watercress, tri tip steak with green beans). I think everyone was pretty pleased. And the sun was out! Which was odd since almost every forecast said clouds and possible rain. But it all swept away in time for the ceremony & reception. Kooky.
Brian and I had a dance together. My brother of course sat in on piano with the jazz quartet, which made me incredibly proud. I even sang along a little on “Night and Day,” which the band said was a first — a bride singing at her own wedding. Heh. Jason the photographer was unable to convince me to climb up onto the piano.
Anyway, la la la. It was great. The eight hours I was at the clubhouse seemed to fly by. I said the last goodbyes to the guests around 6:30 or so, and Brian and I were basically the last to leave (apart from our caterers, who were exceptional). We headed home, our car full of gifts and leftovers and so on, and took our time unloading the car. Opened some gifts, made a huge mess. [censored]. Lay on the couch in an exhausted daze while Brian pulled a couple dozen bobby pins out of my hair.
I can’t WAIT to see how the pictures turned out. I already saw a few from my mother-in-law’s camera — she of course got them done at a one-hour photo.
I just can’t believe our luck on that day. The weather co-operated, my vendors were all incredible, I even had good skin! Of all the days in my life to not be breaking out, this was certainly one.

nice work out there kid
thanks baby, good game. you gave 110%!
It sounds like the perfect wedding, Jane. I’m so happy for you!!
Thank you Eme! It wasn’t PERFECT, but it was pretty darn close. Heh. But it was nice being so over-the-top happy that the minor snafus didn’t bother me.
i have never seen such a well put together wedding. you did brilliantly.
im sorry i ate the desserts. i didnt know!
hope you honeymoon is going great.
Thanks Karen!! I had a long time to plan, I guess 🙂 And I am so glad you guys were there.
Don’t even worry about the desserts. They were irresistible. No one could resist their incredible power!
My photos are on Jesse’s computer…I promise to steal them back and post them tonight. I’ll bet the that the outside photos will all be extra-incredible due to the slightly grey weather – it makes everyone’s skin nice, and no one will be squinting.
Oh, and Jesse wants to know where you guys got your couch. Hah. We’re all old. It’s gone from “where did you get this 7″?” to “where did you get this couch?”
Me want pictures!
I am so glad you guys could come, btw. Your shoes were hawt.
Our couch is from My Favorite Furnishings Store: Crate & Barrel. It’s a Huntley. Did I buy it with cash? No. But it’s worth it. All about the sectional, baby.
aw congratulations… it sounds absolutely perfect and I’m glad that the weather cooperated too
Thank you Sixen. I can’t even believe how stressed I was about the weather … for nothing!
The best part about you at the ceremony was that, while you were up there, you were literally rocking back and forth and your shoulders were rolling and you were grinning your ass off. It was such a pure expression of joy. It was pretty awesome.
swoon
What can I say, I love a Ninja.
