According to my spine doc I need to be:
+ doing pilates
+ swimming 3-4 times a week for at least 30 minutes each time
+ taking two 800mg doses of Ibuprofen per day
I have only been taking one 600mg dose per day…
He said this could take another year to heal. Is that about how long it took you, Christina? And were you on massive doses of advil, too?

You have to swim 3-4 times a DAY? How will you have time to do anything else? If you stick to that schedule, how long will it take for your spine to heal?
HAHA that’s a typo. Oops? I was tired when I wrote that. Fixing now.
Okay, that’s more feasible.
The thing with the Advil? I was prescribed similar doses for an ankle injury. One doctor thought the excess Advil may well have been an underlying cause of the debilitating migraines I started having eleven years ago.
Well, I’m sure everyone is different. I have heard of advil being prescribed in this dose for many, many people, including a friend who had herniated discs and saw them cured without injections.
No other drug has had an effect on my back pain.
Thanks for the advice but I am going to go ahead and take 1600mg a day and see if it works.
Jane, you are the only person who can/should make your medical decisions. I was not trying to offer you advice. I was simply sharing my experience with you. And while everyone is different, rebound headaches are a very common and very well-known side effect of taking ibuprofen daily for an extended period of time (more than a few days). I am surprised your doctor didn’t mention that to you.
