People are starting to leave the office already. Get a head start on the 3-day weekend I suppose. I’m hoping I get to go in 15 minutes, we’ll see.

It’s sunny outside but from my window to the west I can see the giant bank of fog still sleeping on my neighborhood.

As some of you may know, my weakness when it comes to girly purchases is handbags. Not shoes, not makeup. I think my thing is that I am always on the lookout for a more perfect bag, one that is perfectly functional, perfectly crafted, and perfectly beautiful. Rather than delve into the origins of this obsession of mine (female gathering instincts?), I will gladly report that I think that the bag I got a few weeks ago has reached closest to that ideal, and that I reckon my purse-shopping days may be over. I still love it every time I look at it or lift it to my shoulder. It’s got just the right amount of room inside. I think it’s gorgeous and cute. Also it turns out that this particular bag, which arrived in stores at the end of May, has now completely sold out all over the land, and people are selling it on ebay for a hundred dollars over the original price. For me it was a bargain because I sold two other nice bags in order to pay for it. I more than broke even.

This weekend: Venus vs. Lindsey, Howl’s Moving Castle, White Sox vs. A’s, taco salad, softball in the park, and maybe going on a boat on the bay, but no real plans have been made for that. The weather is supposed to be nice, meaning a shroud of fog in my ‘hood, sunshine everywhere else. But I knew that’s what I was getting into when I moved out there.

And! This weekend for the first time in three weeks, I will get to hang out with husband.
