So I went garage saling for a wee bit this morning. I found a pyrex pie dish for $2 and the guy also sold me a MLB baseball for $1.
It’s an official 1979 World Series ball, which looks like it was actually hit by a bat. It’s signed by Willie Stargell, a Hall of Fame player who actually played in that series and was an MVP. The guy selling it said “I have no idea who that is,” and I kept my mouth shut.
Signed Stargell balls are going for as high as $140 on eBay, and no one seems to have a signed World Series ball, just clean white ones. So who knows what it’s worth. The autograph is most likely real, it matches the ones pictured in the auctions.
This ball is pretty cool, and I am going to hang on to it. It’s all scuffed up and dirty.
Now it is time for blueberry Saturday oatmeal.
