that time I was awesome

August 18, 2005 by Jane

Brian and I went to the grocery store tonight to grab a few things. We stopped in the pasta aisle to get jar sauce, which I normally try not to do since making it from scratch is so much better. But anyway. I decided to grab a jar from the top shelf because of course that’s where they keep the good stuff.

So there I was inspecting the ingredients label on this jar, when I hear this *pop* type of noise from above, and without even thinking, I seemed to just instinctively know that something was falling off the top shelf — another jar of sauce. A big heavy glass jar of red sauce. Without thinking, just reacting, I brought the jar in my hands up to block my head. The falling jar bounced off of it with a crack, and smashed in chunky bloody pieces on the floor.

I just stood there for a second, then realized that my reflexes had saved me from being knocked out, or worse. Brian and I looked at each other and kind of smiled and giggled. I don’t know how I did it, but it was pretty cool.

We picked a different brand of sauce.

I’m proud of you little grasshopper, your deflection skills have once again saved you from certain death (well, a severe headache at least)

Yay to good reflexes. Though being knocked unconscious by a jar of pasta sauce would be a good excuse for not posting enough lately! You are missed. Married life seems to be agreeing with you!

Ahhh too cool! Its times like those that make you want to jump around flexing and saying “I rock.” “Buff woman deflects deadly sauce jar, details at 11!”
