gigantic

September 27, 2005 by Jane

A couple nights ago I dreamed I was pregnant. I must have been about 5 months along or so, as I had a nice rounded bump, but was not at all “huge”. For some reason in the dream I had to run, and it felt weird.

Last night I slept very poorly and felt really hot all night. Combination of warmer weather, two furry cats, husband, and heavy duvet cover. I dreamed there was a comically large spider in the room. Kitten-sized, with fur. It was very aggressive and I was beating it off with a chair. Brian told me not to worry about it and we should just go to bed. Later on my dad was outside and Brian was helping him learn how to defend against knife attacks. Yes Brian does know how to do that as he is a stud.

Anyway I somehow dragged myself out of bed. Last night I read a chapter in my book then listened to the Giants station as I attempted to fall asleep. I felt wired for some reason. Did not eat dessert. Maybe it was the late Pilates class. Maybe excitement from the Giants’ amazing and awesome victory over the Daddies. I love the baseball.

(I am excited for the post season, even though my favorite teams probably won’t be there (knock wood). But I find I am mainly excited to see certain teams get a beatdown. I shall enjoy the elimination of the Angels verily, as I have every year since 2002. Last year was particularly sweet as they had their asses handed to them in a paper bag by the Red Sox.)

Sunday, Brian and I took a walk up to Golden Gate Heights Park, a windswept patch of sand and trees and grass that provides a 360 vista of the whole city. It’s usually lonely up there except a couple hawks swirling; nothing like the touristy magnet of Twin Peaks, and a much better view. It’s a difficult climb and my calves hurt the next day.

Our future plans have not been decided clearly yet, so treats should be spaced out accordingly. We still want to go to Chicago, but it may wait until after having a baby, since right at this moment in time we are both at an optimal financial and physical position to get pregnit. It seems smart to do it when you both have jobs, insurance, money, maternity leave, and general overall stability, rather than wait until you are in a new city, with harsher climate, uncertain healthcare, uncertain employment, and so on. Hopefully we will figure it out soon.

If you have a baby while in SF, we can watch it for you when you travel! Show up in the morning, fill its dish, play with it with some yarn or something for a while. You know.

    GG Heights Park rules.
