I woke up in the middle of the night bathed in sweat. I don’t know why or how that happens. It felt like I was soaking. Maybe I had a bad dream or something. I didn’t fully wake up so just lay there delirious, wedged between two oblivious cats. I finally went back to sleep and had somewhat violent dreams, but when I woke up at 6, the sweat had vanished.
I don’t know if I mentioned that Brian and I met our next door neighbors a couple weeks ago. They are so nice and friendly. Things like that make me so happy. Yesterday we got a letter from them telling us about how our landlady’s tree falling into the street (the reason we ended up meeting them) had damaged their house. Then they invited us over this weekend for Australian chocolate and Filipino food.

They own the building and have lived there twenty years or so, so as you can imagine, their property has probably quadrupled in value. They have tenants as well, who are classical musicians. “We never raise the rent,” Trixie told us when we mentioned that our landlady had raised ours for no reason in July. Sigh. I miss having a good landlord. Back in Noe Valley we had a wonderful landlord named Eddie who gave us a washer/dryer in the unit, let us paint the walls whatever color, and installed granite counters and new kitchen cabinets. He was a great guy.
I really need to not ditch out on Pilates tonight. There’s a 5:30 class and a 6:30 class. Obviously the earlier one is better for me, but the later one has a better instructor and a better chance that husband will come with me. But I HATE not getting home from the gym until after 8pm and being starving and tired and whiiiiiiine.
Almost lunch time. I brought a samwich. Since I already finished my tasks for this week, hey, I think I will take a long lunch hour and go try on jeans or something. The sun is threatening to produce actual heat outside today.
