funny british people talking

February 18, 2003 by Jane

Let’s learn some funny British wordings!

“bump” : this is the common term for a pregnant woman’s belly.

“piles” : I thought this meant something else but I guess it means hemorrhoids! Huh.

“cot” : this is the word used where Americans would say “crib,” as in a bed for a baby.

I learned these things in a meeting at work this morning. FASCINATING.

Whatever you do, don’t tell some woman to:

    “Sit your fanny down”

Don’t ask me how this came about. In a society where c*nt is a fairly commonly uttered word, this one is taken as really rude.
