extended family

April 17, 2003 by Jane

Today my aunt in Miami wrote to me to let me know she will be coming to town in June and we should get together. I think I might have been 13 or so the last time I saw her, so I have changed quite a lot.

My family is sparse and spread all over the country, so when someone actually comes out to visit me, it’s a pretty big deal. She also told me that I have a half-uncle and half-aunt I never knew about, and that the uncle lives in the Bay Area and is an aeronautical engineer at Stanford. Wow huh. He seems to be somewhat of a distant relation, since I only found out he exists today, but my aunt says we should still meet each other. Fine by me! Hmm. Uncle Brad.

My aunt is pretty cool. I think we are probably a lot alike, which is weird since we have had so little face time, but not weird since we are blood relatives.
