I spent over an hour yesterday reading this entire blog. It is both hilarious and heartbreaking. I recommend it to everyone with a sense of humor about what life gives you.
Yesterday Brian and I did indeed have a fine dinner at Gordo on 9th Ave. Then we took a long walk as the sun went down, fifteen blocks west to the nearest Baskin-Robbin’s, where a sizeable line had congregated for free cone night. Of course half the line was made up of kids, exuberant with anticipation of the ice cream that would soon be dripping down their faces.
We happened to be standing there on the sidewalk outside some plain-looking business — possibly a accounting firm or small insurance agency, it wasn’t clear from the sign out front. I went over to look through the large windows at the closed office. The walls were paneled in cheap wood and half-alive plants sat near the chairs in front. The back wall of the room was almost completely taken over by shoulder-high steel filing cabinets. The room had four or five solid-looking desks, piled with papers and folders and so on. Then I noticed: This office didn’t have a single computer. There was a blue typewriter on a chair, it looked about thirty years old.
Just a strange thing to see these days, in this city.
We got our cones. Ben & Jerry’s still has better ice cream. I decided on fudge brownie and was kinda disappointed by the fact that the “brownie” chunks were a lot like Tootsie-roll pieces for some reason. But then again, it’s hard to complain too much about free ice cream, right?
So we walked back to Brian’s and ended our evening watching Brak shows downloaded off the interbunny. I dozed off during the one about the rap contest.

holy shit, that blog is amazing.
