Went to a ballgame last night. It was difficult to enjoy last night’s match-up between the A’s and the Giants as I normally would because I like both teams (I’m a big fat fencesitter, ha ha), and by rooting for one, I must root against the other, and it just doesn’t make sense for me to cheer against Benito Santiago or Eric Byrnes. Why yes, I am a nerd. I still had a really good time. The only real negative of the night was the two teenage girls right behind me who screamed right into my ears like Nsync fans pretty much the whole game. Not just during big hits or plays. Every time anyone stepped up to the plate. Ouch? Oh and one of them also screamed “Take Me Out To the Ballgame” at the top of her lungs, as though being murdered. It was just precious it was.

ANYWAY. Today was our big moving sale. We did pretty well, I made a fairly fat wallet o’ cash. Sold a crate of records, a suede jacket, Discman, la la la. I love getting rid of things. There are bags of things and clothes and crap in the wee storage closet downstairs, and as soon as I get the rental car next week, it’s all going to Community Thrift in the Mission.

Every time we have a yard sale at my building, homeless dudes and people on drugs stop by to talk nonsense at us. Today’s hollow-cheeked hairy man tried to sell me some “Shiseido foundation” for ten dollars (“worth $40!”). I just said I don’t wear foundation. Another guy came by and spotted the roller blading wrist guards my roommate was selling, and launched into this monologue about them that was impossible to understand, except the part about how he was too high to think straight. He said he would be right back, which he was not.

I spent most of my shift during the sale reading an article about professional taxidermists. A woman I met last weekend dropped by and hung out with me awhile, and bought all my U2 memorabilia from high school. I’m glad it went to someone who will appreciate it.

Wow only three more nights here. I hope it’s enough time. . . I think it will be alright. The next seven days will be a whirlwind of moving, unpacking, driving around, family in town, acclimation. I’m glad I have a well-organized responsible roommate, and a sweet, calm boyfriend who brought me cereal this morning. Just that he did that rocks more than I bet even he knows.
