1) Pretty much every right-thinking person I know has threatened to leave the country if the You-Know-Who gets re-elected next year. But, seriously, could you leave [San Francisco]? The country?
It is indeed a wonderful fantasy, and if I were wealthy enough and my boyfriend would join me, I would do it. But, money is the main issue. Not to mention the many legal/citizenship hassles. I have a good friend who emigrated to the UK last year, and has no intention of returning, as far as I can tell.
I have been seriously considering leaving SF in the next year or so, for my native land. The Great Pacific Northwest! But of course that would still leave me stuck with Monkey President. And, cheaper housing.
Top international relocation candidates would be British Columbia, France, Ireland. Or to get totally crazy, Japan.
2) What’s your favorite thing about yourself?
That I am independent. The success I have made for myself in the past ten years has come from my own initiative and resources. I like that I am giving myself an education in something I have always loved. I like that I have learned so much about myself in the past three years and remained true to myself and independent even within a serious relationship. I think my being independent actually strengthens my relationship.
3) How did you meet the Ninja? Can I have one?
I ordered him online. Then we chatted on Yahoo IM for a few weeks, and then arranged to meet one cold November evening. THE REST IS HISTORY! Also he is one-of-a-kind, so you may not have one, no. But good luck anyhoo!
4) What is it about on-line fora, and the Panquequadores past and present in particular, that keep you coming back for more?
You guys really make me laugh, and make me think, and open my eyes to types of people I probably wouldn’t be as likely to talk to in real life — like people from different age groups, cultures, etc. It has added a richness to the types of people I call pals. Also the laughing.
5) What period of your life would you go back and relive, if you could? Or would you at all?
Definitely college. I would start by being more focused. I would have transferred to Berkeley instead of taking the “leave of absence” and moving down here to fuck around. And while in Olympia, I would go back and not give a crap what any of those idiot arrogant “punk rock” scenesters thought.
And I would have picked a better guy to give my Special Purpose to. Oh well.
But seriously, I probably wouldn’t anyway. I am happy with my life the way it is now, and I accept that it got that way because of all I have been through, good and bad.

Hee. Great answers. I love asking/answering people that I don’t really know all that well. Since you don’t ordinarily get to straight up ask your friends questions like this, I find the answers very interesting. Thanks!
the easiest way to live abroad is on a student visa. I was all set to move to Vancouver after Ethan finished his BA, but I’ll be ruled by a monkey for a little bit longer now that I have the PA appointment at UWM. I’ll just have to get a second MA at ubc.
My girlfriend is pureblood Finnish, and Finland is dealing with a population decline right now, and has stated that anyone in the world who is a direct Finnish descendent (my girlfriend’s grandparents were all immigrants) can move there and be pretty much guaranteed citizenship. So we’ve discussed the viability of moving to Europe a few times. Maybe when my band stuff has come to a close, it’s something i’ll be willing to do.
Option 2: New Zealand. But i hear citizenship there is a bitch and a half.
