Gas prices continue to soar. I continue to be directly unaffected and somewhat amused. Apologies to friends who drive cars. Don’t worry, I will own a car soon enough, and I’ll then be bitching right along with you. Presuming we haven’t run out of oil or blown up the Middle East by then.
As I was shopping yesterday, I noticed that protein is expensive, and carbohydrates are cheap. Bread with protein is costlier than plain white bread. Frozen chicken patties are more expensive than frozen pasta dinner. Following Atkins’ idea that protein is the staple of the human diet and carbs are unhealthy and make you fat, it starts to make sense why the rich in America are slim and the poor are overweight. Yes, huge generalization, but anyway.
I watched One Day in September last night. How depressing it was. The terrorist they interviewed was asked why he did what he did, and he replied that he did it to help the Palestinian cause and get their message out to the world. Okay. (1) your message got out to the world, and because of the means, you got no sympathy from anyone except for those already aware of your message and sympathetic to it. (2) it’s now 2003 and y’all are in the same boat you were in in 1972, if not worse. Hey maybe it’s time for BOTH SIDES to change tactics? Today I read that Israel is building a large fence around the Palestinian ghetto area. How retro. How ironic. This is what happens when both sides are overtaken by extremists.
Anyhoo. GOSSIP TIME!
