I’ve felt so lazy all week. I don’t know what it is. Last night after work I went out to dinner with Tamara. We had sushi at a place near my house and walked around afterward. I bought Simon a catnip cigar toy and we watched him totally lose his mind on it. After Tamara left, I had been thinking I would do some free weight training, or some yoga. Instead I dozed off on the couch with the tv on. I couldn’t find where my roommate hid the free weights, you see.

After about forty minutes of napping, I wandered around the apartment trying to think of stuff to do. I knew I should be writing, but I felt absolutely zero motivation. So I ate some crackers and made a mug of hot chocolate, and watched some South Park and Reno 911. I felt like my brain wasn’t working.

Finally around 11:15 I managed to go brush my teeth and wash up. Shuffled to the bedroom and read some postings on my message board, while listening to the gubernatorial recall debate on NPR. I went to bed at 11:45, still listening to the debate. I couldn’t sleep. I lay there listening to the candidates and regretting that cup of lovely cocoa.

My impressions of those involved in the debate:

Cruz Bustamante: By far the most qualified of the lot, and I agree with him on most issues. Though I think that most politicians are terrified of saying they oppose the death penalty, since most voters are pretty bloodthirsty when it comes to killing criminals. So who knows how he really feels about that. So I’ll be voting No on the recall, Yes for Bustamove.

Peter Camejo: Big fat Green Party liberalhead. I of course agree with him on pretty much everything, but he’s un-electable outside the city of Berkeley. I voted for him in the last election because I just did not want to vote for Davis. I liked how he said he was anti-death penalty, noting that the US is the one of the only industrialized nations to still have it.

Arianna Huffington: Also pretty liberal, informed, educated about the issues, but she seems stuck on one or two pet issues like reducing money for prisons and giving teachers raises, which is awesome, but not enough scope to get my vote. She also said she was anti-death penalty, which sadly doesn’t get you elected in a statewide contest in America.

Tom McClintock: Right-wing nazi dickhead. On every single issue he was questioned on, I knew his answer before he gave it. It was so scripted. “I don’t support the government making policy on people’s lifestyle choices” (against domestic partnership benefits). “The people need the death penalty to protect citizens from violent predators.” Yeah it’s worked pretty well so far, asshole. Violent crime has disappeared!

Peter Ueberroth: So incredibly in over his head it’s not even funny. On just about every question, he gave a garbled non-answer and often admitted he didn’t know much about the issue. He said once he’s elected, he’ll just hire advisors to help him understand all this stuff. Just like President Bush! Scary. But this guy doesn’t have a prayer.

The Terminator: Didn’t show, and I think he would have performed much like Ueberroth and he knew it.

Anyway I think I fell asleep around one in the morning.
