Matt reached the December 9 runoff. Only a quarter of San Francisco’s registered voters bothered to turn out today. It took me about two minutes to vote this morning before work: walk a block to my precinct, no line to stand in, fill out two-sided ballot, stick it in machine, leave. However, even more frightening is the fact that of the 127 thousand or so people who managed to vote, many of them were totally uneducated about the propositions on the ballot — which is why I think we should maybe stop this out of control initiative process and perhaps let the supervisors do what they were elected to do: make intelligent policy. OR …maybe the media could actually cover the propositions as much as they cover, oh I dunno, let’s say, that murder from a year ago in Modesto?
Newsom’s Prop M–which passed–will make it illegal to be poor and ask for help. Big surprise, Newsom doesn’t “care” at all. Unless you’re a business owner. God what a typical politician he is. Prick.
The good news is that I have hope that the 65 thousand people who voted for candidates other than Newsom or Gonzalez will throw their support behind Matt (or “anyone but Gavin”). I hope that’s what happens, but having hope in people doing the sane, progressive thing is a risky endeavor indeed.
The other “good” news is that even if Gonzalez does lose in December, he will still be President of the Board, and come to think of it, he still has a shitload of power. To do good, instead of evil. Yay Green Party!
My new layout = pretty.

Oooh! I like the pretty new layout. I should add “places” to mine. I like that
Re: layout
I haven’t even seen your layout! I think.
It took me forever to make this thing work. Also the “comments” feature today is acting very broken, and LJ is refusing to save my cookies. Bastard. They need to fix their shit.
