I voted today. Matt Gonzalez for mayor… anyone but that rich, smarmy, Marina-scum, Baldwin-bot, arrogant, pomade-headed Newsom. Ugh. But especially Matt Gonzalez.

I am on a pretty serious news blackout right now — confined to tv and radio. My radio station is locked to KCSM, public jazz programming. I love it. I am getting my news from the internet, mainly the Chronicle and the New York Times. This country seems to get more and more cruel and ignorant by the day, and I can’t listen to it, because next thing you know, the “President’s” awful, smug voice is in my ears and I am rushing for the “off” switch.

Today I found out that a television network is caving to pressures from the GOP right-wing to pull a movie from their schedule that criticizes Ronald Reagan. Yes, even telling the awful truth about one of our country’s most destructive and divisive leaders is no longer possible. It’s still legal, I think, for the moment. This is akin to the Communist Party banning a film about Stalin’s evils during the Cold War. In fact, it is exactly the same, and no one in this country seems to care or notice that THE BAD GUYS ARE WINNING. I’m serious. The conservative leadership of our once-great country is FUCKING EVIL. (Unless you’re a rich, white, traditional family or a poor, stupid, white, traditional family. Then, things are just dandy, as long as you can still get third-world products for half the price at Wal-Mart! And as long as you haven’t lost your job or been sent over to Iraq to be killed for no reason!)

And that brings me back to Gavin Newsom, and how depressing it is that this shithead frat boy asshat and his freight train of inherited millions is going to buy him the mayor’s office in spite of the fact that his whole campaign is based on attacking the city’s most defenseless residents — the homeless. As a friend of mine said today, begging for money is bad; unless your name is Gavin Newsom.

Tonight I’m going to clean up all the junk laying around in my room and fill up my new bookcase. And eat ice cream. And check election results, confident that Gonzalez has gotten a spot in December’s runoff.
