heart broken

December 10, 2003 by Jane

Okay I promise this will be my last post about the SF mayoral election.

I am deeply disappointed. Forty-eight percent turnout, citywide. Morons staying home because some water might fall on them. Morons voting for Newsom because they think this election was about partisan politics, that they can’t see a Democrat losing to a Green.

Guess what. Matt is a better Democrat than Gavin ever will be, and Gavin is a better Republican than he is a Democrat. And I am confident this will be shown over time.

I am sad. ANOTHER bad guy won an election. Why does evil keep triumphing over good? Newsom lied–nakedly, blatantly–to get elected. He is a spoiled, dimwitted, lying pawn of his financial backers. WHY DID ANYONE VOTE FOR HIM? He has no charisma, everything he says is a carefully manufactured soundbite.

Oh people, workers, voters of San Francisco. Why didn’t you vote? Thirty percent turnout in Bayview? Don’t they know that they will in fact suffer the worst under Newsom?

It’s a very sad and gloomy day in this city.

But we will continue to fight, Matt will continue to lead the Board of Supervisors as its president, and I know he has a long and successful career of service before him. He will be loved by everyone who has voted for him and campaigned for him, and as time goes on, Gavin will be merely tolerated, loathed, and will eventually be an embarrassment, just like his mentor and predecessor. Mark my words.

Didn’t you mention he owns a wine store in Noe Valley? Get friend after friend to dress all yupped up, go in and grab multiples bottles of expensive wines, and then as the cashier rings them up and has the sale almost done have one friend turn to the other and say “oh, that’s right … he wons this place, doesn’t he?” and then turn and walk out without buying anything. And just keep doing this in a wave assault, one or two every few days.

Petty, but somehow satisfying in a small way.

    Or just TP the place.

that performance art script, by the way, should be “he owns this place”, not “wons”. My Freudian bad.

Well, if nothing else for a guy several hundred miles away, Matty G has inspired this kid to run for Mayor should he choose permanent residence here in Albuquerque.

Growing cities need good leadership, before they end up like LA.

    election

Perhaps the solution is to do what you can to improve the homeless plight. Volunteer at a shelter, get involved at a food bank, check out local church’s for their outreach activities.
    Hang in there. Love, Mom
