radio

January 15, 2004 by Jane

I’ve been listening to the local oldies station for the past few days in the morning since it has the least amount of fucking GW Bush news reports and I don’t mind the music.

It occured to me this morning that this station has the same DJs working in the morning shift (and probably others) as it had ten years ago when I first listened to it.

Then I wondered, let’s say you’re a radio DJ at an oldies station and you have to listen to the same couple hundred songs every day for like twenty years or so.

I bet the on-air talent click off their headphones at every possible opportunity. Man, imagine having to listen to “I Heard it Through the Grapevine” or anything by the Doors on a daily basis. I shudder to think.

I also have been listening to Virgin radio UK on the internet in the mornings, until I realized that for three consecutive days I had been subjected to the Red Hot Chili Peppers — NEW singles. Crappy.

But it is fun to listen to the London traffic report for some reason.
