crazy man screaming at the crosswalk

February 3, 2004 by Jane

Last night I took a very long, hot bath. I was lucky for it, as our tank is stupid low on hot water, usually. But this time there was enough for a proper bath. I lay there against the inflatable bath pillow, watching a Lush bomb dance around. After my skin had been well-soaked, I took my sweet time shaving my legs and pits, exfoliating with a Japanese Salux cloth, and generally just laying there.

I like the looks of Japanese bathtubs, more like soup pots than butter trays. They just make a lot more sense. We’ll have one in our bathroom when we buy a house. It’s hard for me to get comfortable in a Western long tub, being petite as I am.

Last night I was on my way to the train home from work when Brian called me and asked me out for coffee, as he happened to be downtown. We went to the Ferry Building Peet’s and got iced drinkies. Had some laughs. Smooched goodnight, and each went to our homes to do our thing for the night. He’s such a good boy, I think to myself often.

This morning I was awakened early by cats, as often happens. I lay there, drifting in and out of sleep, listening to the sound of the rain on the window, which I love so much. I dreamed of dogs, and rolling backward downhill in a car. It was hard to get out of bed.
