Here is a trend I was several years ahead of… I absolutely love plain whole milk yogurt. In savory food, on fruit, in cereal, on tacos, as a chip dip. Mmmm. The funny part is that I won’t eat it plain. Only as a condiment.

So, I went to my acupuncture appointment this morning. It went well. The doctor and I discussed my problem for about forty-five minutes. He then concluded that my leg pain is probably work-related. The pain is most acute when I am sitting down. At my workstation, my feet do not rest flat on the floor with knees level with hips — I have short legs. The doctor said this problem may have been aggravated in martial arts training, but was then compounded and worsened by how I sit at work.

After that he did the treatment. I didn’t feel anything, just lay there on my side listening to the ambient ocean music. He actually left the room for most of it and I just lay there with the pins sticking out of my leg. My first experience with non-Western medicine! I liked it. I am going to have five treatments in the next two weeks and I hope hope hope it helps me.

I went to work after that and immediately had my workstation evaluated. We ordered some new equipment (monitor risers, ergonomic keyboard, new mouse) and finding that the office supply catalogue footrests were all designed with tall people in mind, I am resting my feet flat on two big reams of paper. I am also going to get a new chair! Aw yea.

See? Being proactive works. Usually.

Now I am going to study my Japanese again. No class last week due to flooding, so I don’t know what we’ll be in for tonight.

Your comment about your workstation just clicked with me. I’ve had annoying dull pains in my hips and thighs off and on and just now figured out that at work, my feet aren’t touching the ground. Duh.

Let us know how it goes!

Oh my gosh, Grebby! See if you can get some new equipment. Do not get a footrest that moves around or tilts — you’re better off using phone books.

Yes, I have the pains in my thigh joints and muscles. I have taken to standing on the train ride home instead of being subjected to the too-high plastic seats. And I definitely need to do more yoga focused on lower body.

I’m going to go to Studio Depot and get myself a half apple box. It’s 12″x20″x4″ – basically what they give short TV reporters to stand on. Less slidey than a phone book! But not as free.

Well that sounds about perfect. I hope it helps you! There are probably lots of stretches you can do too.
