I walked partially home today. I took the train to Church and Duboce, then walked from there. The walk took twenty-five minutes, briskly. The route involves a very steep hill that takes about three long blocks to climb. Then you get to walk back down. The weather was very blustery and cold and I smelled rain in the air — probably just fog. I listened to music on my iPod. I need to change my shirt now.
Got home and discovered the new kitchen counters were installed today. Shiny flecked granite, warm sandy shades. The kitchen still feels very messy though; the workers still have a couple more things to do.
My future mother-in-law and my future sister-in-law sent me a book: “Chicken Soup for the Bride’s Soul.” It’s a collection of short wedding stories, no chicken soup recipes. It was really thoughtful of them. Even though I have been wrapping myself up in the fun creative parts of preliminary wedding planning, I am still not used to being a “bride-to-be.” Maybe it will sink in once I actually try on a gown.
