moving on up

June 18, 2004 by Jane

Last night Brian and I took the N out toward our new ‘hood. We had to wait awhile to pick up the keys as the landlady wsn’t home yet, so we went for coffee at the cafe where we first met. Which I thought was romantic. While there we talked about our future plans, mainly financially. This is an awesome topic of conversation when you are about to shack up and get married. Much worse to NOT talk about it.

Then we walked to the apartment and got our keys. The place is nice and clean, though the walls and baseboards need to be wiped down and some of the wood floors are oddly sticky, like the last occupants washed them with the wrong cleaner. But man, this place is so awesome. And perfect. Becited!!

We measured walls and spaces, and masked off areas for painting. Got more familiar with the place, tested all the faucets. I wish we lived there NOW. But I can wait out the next three days, after all there is still packing to do.

So tonight Brian moves his stuff in, he has the rental truck now. I will go over with him and we MIGHT start painting, or just clean the walls. Tomorrow we do all the painting. Sunday I complete packing. Monday the movers come, and I go to target with Leigh to get all my cleaning equipment and so on. Tuesday, cable hooked up, and then I might go to work. We’ll see.

Big life changes make time move more slowly.

I’m excited for you Jane. Even though I only know you through your words, from the days when you used to write a colunm for Punk Planet, your website and now being able catch you on my friends page, it’s interesting to watch the passing of time.

    Go, Jane, go! 🙂

I am so stoked for you guys. I have the 60-days-notice thing that landlords in WI adhere to. You guys started looking after us, and yet get to move before us. Sigh. We *might* get to move in mid-July now instead of August due to the fact that our current LL is selling the house.
