Back at work and it’s pretty hellish. All kinds of crazy shit to do this week, and I guess I missed the real chaos last week, which was too bad because if I had been around I could have told everyone what a big error they were making in blah blah blah anyway.
Seattle was great! Got to see family, and the sun was shining every day. Got to lay in the grass with my man, barbecued on my dad’s grill, took a small drive to Port Townshend, rode on the ferry boat a couple times. We had lunch at Dick’s on Capitol Hill, toured the brand new downtown library, and otherwise wandered the city of my birth on foot and on the bus. Our hotel was a little dumpy, but it did have A/C and a pool (a pool filled with DEAD BEES!!). The hot tub advertised on the web site was “out of order,” and nowhere to be seen! Riiiight.
Ate way too much, as often happens when I can’t cook my own food in my own kitchen, but oh well. Had plenty of ice cream. The hotel was also located across the road from the yuppiest mall I have ever been to in my life. The whole thing was outdoors, to replicate an actual town with actual shops (like we have all over SF), except that every single high-end mainstream retailer in the US has a storefront. Pottery Barn, Anthropologie, JCrew, Starbucks (of course!), Barnes & Noble, and on and on. There were a few smaller expensive shops, and little courtyards for all the little white familes to play in. It was a bit sickening, to me. The absurd number of malls in that area really highlights the addiction to consumption in our culture. OMG that was so deep!
I did shop while I was there though. I got some candy, a purple scarf, and a boob-holding workout top. But I opted NOT to buy more things than I bought. If that makes sense.
Oh god so much work to do. I am thinking what if I came in early tomorrow and promised to work real hard since no one will be around to distract me. Once I get into a groove I can get so much done. But I haven’t had a real chance to relax since I got home. Wah, what a crybaby I yam.
We were so happy to see the cats last night, and they were of course freaking out. I missed my buddies. They slept at the foot of the bed like good boys.
I have a nice French manicure on my fingers, thank you mom! I will try to do it myself next time; my hands are pretty steady and I actually like doing my own nails. The shade of pink on my toes right now is just about my favorite ever. I had to put on three coats, but it’s awesome.

Welcome back!
Coming back from vacay is always so hard.
I know of those yuppie malls you speak of. There are lots of them over here, and up in Philly, too.
