vacation

August 10, 2004 by Jane

I am listening to KUSF on my computer. Drinking coffee and enjoying vacation so far.

This weekend we went to Christina and Christian’s wedding. I thought it was beautiful. Sure the wind was blowing, but it looked so lovely rippling through the silky tablecloths. The ceremony was brief and heartfelt, and the couple looked splendid. We huddled under gas-powered heat lamps, munching on these adorable tiny hamburgers and drinking wine. The wedding was in the ancient Greek rotunda of the Palace of Fine Arts, so everywhere you looked was grand stone columns and statues or trees and giant white swans out in the lagoon. Everyone was so happy, and the toasts made by the family made me a little teary in a good way. Brian and I sat at our table eating and drinking for a couple of hours with our friends, then said goodbye to the couple before heading through the descending fog to Nick V’s house to watch Futurama.

The evenings leading up to the wedding day involved too much drinking on my part, though for me that involves one red wine, one white russian, and one cape cod. Such a lightweight.

Today’s plan is to work out, pack my suitcase, and make sure the cats will be fed while we’re away. The weather in Seattle promises to be in the mid-80s, according to weather.com. That would be a nice break from the dull platinum skies that seem to cover this neighborhood in the summer months.

And when we get back from Seattle, we start school almost right away. Japanese again, and a drawing class. I really hope I caan fit it all in this time and be a good girl and do my homework. Not that I don’t usually, but for some reason I am always pushing myself to be The Best Student, and fearing that I am failing, when I usually get A’s in these night classes I’ve been taking for two years now.

Ok, must rise from my chair now and stretch the legs.
