a good morning

September 5, 2004 by Jane

We’re listening to the Jesus Lizard this morning. It’s hot again.

Brian washed the dinner dishes and I realized that we are out of coffee, so we had to get dressed and walk to Canvas Cafe (Where We Met™) to get some caffeine and bad pastries and look at art. Someone took some dingy old white slips (the kind you wear under a dress), wrote on them with a ballpoint pen, and is now selling all three for $2000. I’m sorry, but that is lame. But, more power to them, because some sucker will surely buy it.

What was far more interesting was the person in the gigantic red ant costume wandering around outside. The ant wanted to tell us about the yard sale today at the California Academy of Science. I already spent too much money this weekend, Mr. Ant.

We thought that the ant costume would be far more clever if, for instance, the ant had been carrying a large truck in its jaws or running at 80 miles an hour. Did I ever tell you about the time a bunch of ants invaded my old house in Oakland and found their way into the cricket terrarium? It was a massacre. The day the chirping stopped, we called it.

We could really use a Swiffer. The broom doesn’t actually work all that well. Pbbltlltt.

Poor little Sasha is obsessed with catching the monster house fly that is careening through the apartment. He’s not quite fast or smart enough, though.

Today : pretty awesome so far.
