Our landlady is a rather normal-looking woman in her forties, dresses conservatively, ordinary blonde-ish haircut, has a well-decorated cute apartment, and is a psychologist of some kind for her full-time job. A nice lady. Has a cat. Has a lot of beautiful plants on her back deck. Leads an active life it seems, sometimes going biking up in Sonoma. Every morning in the garage she exercises on this rowing doohickey.

She also listens to loud classic rock or soul music every weekend. I think I am used to it now, so I can comment on how funny and kind of neat it is to have this quiet and straightlaced landlady upstairs who was blasting Annie Lennox yesterday.

I actually noticed when we signed the lease up there in June that she had an impressive collection of LPs, but didn’t think much of it or just assumed they were jazz or classical.

The good news is that she doesn’t rock out past 10pm.

Tonight for dinner I made this recipe out of Real Simple, and it WAS real simple, btw. It combines fusilli pasta, a cooked package of frozen chopped spinach, some ricotta cheese, scallions, basil, pine nuts, golden raisins, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar; served warm or room temp (or cold, I imagine) with some fresh sliced tomato on top. It was heavenly and I made a ton, so it’s nice to have a couple days of lunch taken care of. It’s great with some grilled chicken tossed in too, or you could add grilled marinated tofu if you don’t eat meat. Anyway.

P.S. I hate the Dodgers, man. A lot.
