clown face

October 15, 2004 by Jane

So, in conjunction with last night’s entry about how I am a makeup dummy, we ended up at Nordstrom today after buying a couple of birthday cards in the mall. Brian works at 4pm on Fridays every other month, so he won’t get home until really late.

Anyway, there we were a Nordstrom, and I was going to get an eyeliner really quick so that I could put some color on my eyes for the photo session on Sunday. I ended up at the Clinique counter and started fooling around with a dark green pencil. The saleslady came over and saw what I was doing to myself, and quickly suggested I try a violet shade instead, and agreed with me about the color of an eyeshadow compact I liked. Before I knew it I was in the chair and she was putting the colors onto my eyelids, along with a bit of blush and some lip gloss.

I looked in the mirror and I gotta say, I looked pretty good. And very different. But it didn’t look like I had on a lot of makeup, which is what I wanted. My makeup application technique needs a lot of work. I don’t think my eyeshadow has ever been put on correctly. Hee. At some point as a kid I made the decision not to learn this stuff, which is also fine. Except for all the times I have put it on clumsily.

And did you know you can go to Nordstrom and they will just make up your face all nice and professionally for free? And if you don’t like it, they’ll do it over?

This morning I made some excellent French toast. Started with a fresh small sourdough loaf from Grace Bakers, and made an egg mixture with milk, vanilla, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

Oh and I just finished organizing and cleaning out the pantry. How many half-empty boxes of water crackers does one need anyway?

Hah! My parents do the half eaten cracker box thing too! Ooo that makeup sounds pretty. I was toying with the idea of going to the makeup counter in Elder Beerman and trying to find a good look. My lipgloss/stick never seems to look right with the light brown/taupe eyeshadow I’ve been using. I always see these women with absolutely gorgeous makeup and I have no idea how they do it.

I bet you looked stunning, its cool to see what just a tad of makeup can do for highlighting the eyes.

You should do that. Try to find a person who really enjoys it, though, and isn’t only trying to make a sale. If you like what they did at the end, just buy the product you liked most.

I got all these different sized plastic containers from the Container Store downtown and the cracker packages went into one. As long as it has an airtight seal and isn’t spread out all over the place, I’m fine with it.

Do you have brown eyes? I was told that a brown eye should have a color like dark violet near it, instead of more brown. But if you have blue eyes, I got no idea.
