Simon is obsessed with the front door today. He’s been standing in front of it, meowing, and looking at me sadly. Occasionally he will stand on his hind legs and attempt to work the handle. This is all due to his Magnificent Escape last night, when, as I was walking in the door from dinner out with Tamara, he scooted past me and ran down the stairs, rowring joyfully.

Luckily our entryway is guarded by a gate, so he simply walked into the adjacent garage and stood there talking to himself until I went down to get him. Silly cat.

Tamara and I had fun last night. First we picked out the bridesmaids dress she and Ert will wear during my weddin, then we went to Macy’s and I bought a couple of much needed warm sweaters from Inc, which is a faboo brand, btw.

Then we went back to my ‘hood and had very amazing sushi, including a soft-shell crab spider roll which was unbeeleebable.

At home Brian told me that some box had been delivered for the guy who used to live here back in June, who moved and decided not to put a forward on most of his mail. We still get mail for this guy all the time and we have no forwarding address. So we have this big heavy box, which according to the label on the front, contains ALCOHOL! and can’t be opened by MINORS!

Inside: three bottles of awesome California red wine, made with Italian grapes. Oh heavens yes. I gave a bottle to Tamara, because she and her husband are very into the wine.

Taking today off to save my back, btw. I already did an hour of yoga and now shall commence with the light housework and walking around outside to run errands. I hope my local supermarket has dried cherries; I think I am going to use them in the cranberry relish I make for Thanxgiving.
