It’s so good to swim after work. Because there’s no clock watching me, ticking off minutes that compel me back to the desk. I went today after work and did a good twelve laps. Did not really get winded, thanks to new one-breath-per-stroke technique — basically surfacing and inhaling with each left arm reach.
After swimming I found myself wandering downtown with as usual, my gear and suit and etc in a lovely plastic bag that I got from a bookstore. Which, frankly, is beginning to fall apart. And really having my swimming stuff all crammed into a plastic shopping bag is a bit of a mess. So I went to Walgreens looking for something cheap, something a step above a plastic bag, as I told Brian. And found it! Mine is actually better since it has canvas handles instead of plastic. OMG wasn’t that THRILLING? Jane found a cute little bag for the gym! Huzzah!
I went home, still in a daze and a funk. Didn’t really have a very good day today, mainly because some lunch plans fell through. Tried to find the good in that: Cafe Claude is a very cute French bistro and they have free music four nights out of the week, so maybe we can scout wedding musicians there or something! I really need to get on that. The first band we wanted is asking for $1500 and I think that is kind of insane.
Just like the entire wedding industry! hahaha!
Though I may get my bridal shoes for like $16, which is nice since half the sites I looked at wanted $150 and up. For white shoes, come ON.
Random: I have decided I really like listening to KFOG. They play all kinds of different rock music, from Wilco to the Beatles to Queen. It’s a pretty good mix, with a low enough percentage of crap, and absolutely no “nu-metal” or whatever. Plus their morning DJs have a secret lefty leaning, AND they are one of the few major market commercial stations that is INDEPENDENT, that is, not owned by Clearchannel. And that is my endorsement for now.
On Tuesday nights they do an hour of songs at 10pm from one year and tonight the year is 1984, whee!

I swear, everything to have to DO with weddings is hella expensive. Its crazy. I’m going to go with the most comfortable shoes I can find, with heels cuz I like them, even though they were made to cripple women heh…anywho, I’m probably going to wear slippers at the reception if my dress is off the floor enough.
OMG that station sounds killer. I wish we had a variety here, but the only rock stations are three: old rock, old rock, old and new rock. So, I listen to the third one, but mainly cds. Lately I’ve been addicted to oldies heh.
not indie
KFOG is owned by a fairly large media group, susquehanna radio corp which owns and operates stations all over the country. I wouldn’t really call that independent.
I wore low heeled silver sandals at my wedding – they were on sale – about 80% off. I figured that at least my feet wouldn’t be pinched in closed shoes and I could skip stockings.
I recommend some liquid band aid too – anywhere that you think might chafe so that you don’t get any blisters on your big day!
