It’s doubly odd that I am in a poopy mood today since my weekend ended up being so rad.
On Friday night I went out to Olivia’s 30th birthday party. The party was at Mason and Sasha’s impeccably decorated and appointed apartment. Glorious colors and artwork everywhere. I was even in love with the lighting fixtures. I finally got to meet Olivia’s swell fella, Skip. I gave her the paint-by-numbers birthday card I did a couple weekends ago. Heheh.
I got to see so many people I hadn’t seen in ages. The Connelly brothers, Jason, Bjorn, and even a woman I hadn’t spoken to in eight years who used to work at a vintage boutique I would frequent in my Berkeley days. Hi Karen! Wow. C’est le petit monde, non?
Brian had to work the Friday late shift unfortunately, so he couldn’t make it to the party, drat. Though if I had thought it out a bit more I suppose we could have made a midnight appearance on his way home from the office, alas. But instead I went home and we went to sleep so that we could get up in the morning for swimming lessons.
After swimming, we went on our shopping adventure. Made a lunch stop at In-N-Out, yay. Headed into the severely crowded and trashy Target, got what we needed, got out. Same went for Home Depot, which was a nightmare. We are taking the small hardware store clerk’s advice — go to Orchard from now on. Much better experience. Home Depot is always a massive headache, why is that? Well, because they are far too large and their staff are mostly minimum wage earners who aren’t taught about things outside their “department.”
Anyhoo, raced home, City Car Share wagon stuffed full of home improvement. Brian set to work building his new wall-attached desk. I filled up my new plastic drawers with excess sweaters and put the drawers into my closet. Whee! Other miscellaneous housework ensued.
On Sunday we stayed close to home all day. I bought a staplegun at aforementioned local hardware store, and we hung some pretty icicle blinky lights in the front windows. That’s all the holiday decoration I want to do, but I love me some xmas lights. Brian finished organizing the office and then played some Halo2 while I napped on the sofa. It was a good Sunday. We finished the evening by taking a walk down to Canvas to listen to music, drink hot drinks, and look at local art. As usual, some of it was very good, and some was very bad. I am fond of found art sculptures. Not so much of the artist who apparently came across a cache of cheesy high school yearbook portraits, which have been cleverly “titled” and then placed into small frames. And then priced at $50. Whatever.
This mini-week shall hopefully fly by.

I am totally riding a bummer for no reason, as well. Boo.
Well, you’re awesome, so there! 🙂
Jane! It was so great to see you and reconnect… Glad to see and hear that you’re doing so well — you look fabulous!
Hope your mood brightens soon, honey. Maybe you’ve just got “a bad case of the Mondays”… ha!
xo
K
I think that must have been it. I feel a bit better today, though this morning MUNI was totally fucked and it took over an hour to get to work (usually takes 35 minutes). Wah.
At least I have my coffee.
Mondays just suck in general. Do you guys have plans for Thanksgiving? Mike’s mom said that her mom tried to have us go out this year instead of having a home made meal *GASP*!!! I can’t wait for all the yummy food, both Mike’s mom and grandma are awesome cooks.
Nice desk and drawers! It will be oh so nice to get organized once we move out…there’s no room in Mike’s tiny bedroom for a real desk. I am in bad need of one to put my homework on.
Home Depot and Lowe’s are the devil – can barely find anything in there! The only positive thing about them is that they’re cheap heh.
We are going to my bridesmaid’s house for dinner. I am bringing a couple of pumpkin pies and a big bowl of homemade cranberry relish. Can’t wait to start making it all tomorrow night!
