This country is in deep shit and quite tragically has become a nation of very very stupid, shortsighted, mean-spirited, ignorant imbeciles. And they have their very own “leader.” This country has truly become lost. This country is in decline. We are the enemy and the punchline to the rest of the world now. We have our very own dictator. The gap between the rich and the poor will continue to widen, and the rich will continue to trick the poor into voting against their best interests.
It was a great 200 years, United States, but I really think this is the beginning of the end for this chapter in world history.
The question is, do we get out now, before this cabal of fascists starts the next unwinnable — but quite profitable — war? Do the rational, educated people flee, as they did from Germany decades ago? Or do we stay and just pretend this doesn’t affect us? Or do we stay and fight against a behemoth, a monster? There is no possible revolution. America is fucked. Just watch. You think things are bad now? They are going to get ohhhh so much worse. Maybe not for you, but for the poor? The non-white? Those people that the Republican party is all too willing to rape and lie to to get a vote, then send out into the cold? They are fucked, and hundreds of them will find themselves in Iraq, Iran, Syria, dying for oil companies.
Mark my words. WE are truly the evil empire, and have been for a long time. We have had so many chances to be a light to the world, to make things better, to set a good example, but the greed of the rich and selfish has been and will be the ruin of this country, like so many other countries before us. Our system is broken. The candidate who gets the most votes does not win — this is the only election on EARTH where that is the case. Oh except for all those elections run by dictators — frauds, scams.
It’s sorta funny and ironic that our goverment and their followers so closely resemble the Taliban, no? A greedy right-wing gang of violent religious fanatics? I think the smart people better jump ship before we lose the right to do so. We are in for some terrifying times. I am serious as a heart attack. Reproductive rights will be chipped away, human rights, and finally voting rights. Mark my words, this is what these maniacs want. They have absolutely no interest in freedom of anything except the freedom to make money and establish a theocracy, and step on anything and anyone that gets in their way.
So I don’t know what we will do. At this point I am prepared to emigrate. I know people who have done it, and live happy lives away from this bullshit and garbage. Guess what, idiots, America isn’t by default the best country to live in. That hasn’t been the case for a very long time, that is a nationalist lie. Over the past few decades this so called beacon of democracy has been stripping away rights, stopping progressive movements here at home, starting wars and coups in other countries, and basically being the big bad bully. The greedy, grotesque, gluttonous thief. That’s how America is seen everywhere, and not for no reason. And our people have lost any power to do anything about it. Our people are lied to and easily manipulated by a media controlled by very partisan corporations. Our unions are meaningless compared to what they once were. Our people have no right to health care. The best way to sum up the worldview of the Republican Party, and their soulless, heartless leaders is this:
“I got mine, fuck you and get out of my way.”
At this moment I want to get out. Get out before terrorists start blowing up buses in our cities (it will happen). Get out before the riots start. But we really can’t go anywhere for at least a year. Maybe it would make it easier if I threw the tv out the window… but then I couldn’t watch baseball. :’ (

Darling bunny, it will be okay. It will be. There is no mandate. There will be a reckoning. It has happened before, in the midst of hegemonic blind-leading-the-blind ism, there has been epic changes in our nation. It is not the end, if this ratfuck becomes our president, it will not mean the end of all that is good in our history.
There are not enough outs to make it worthwhile. We must fight here and now, clip the hamstrings of the proposed mandate. Otherwise, we are merely making ourselves obsolete. We will not, and must not, do so.

I’m just super upset. You have faith in what you imagine your country stands for and then you find out that your country really stands for hate and division and greed — which you sort of suspected all along. It’s like, why have faith anymore? Why bother? There are so many other options out there.

I thoroughly agree with you. Frankly, I’m disguisted by the fact that half the shit passed that did! Not only might we get another term of the worst president ever, but people passed stupid things like the “ban on gay marriage” proposal, and in my lovely state, we decided to pass proposal 1 which lets the lotto take our money for education and supposedly make more and give it back to education – our own govenor told us not to vote yes on it!!! WTF PEOPLE! I’m seriously contemplating moving to Canada.
The Republican party has no interested in an educated, thoughtful America. Then they wouldn’t have any voters. That is why they are anti-intellectual.
This is a tragic outcome. Most of the Republican proletariat are actually decent people, they just don’t know any better. The Republican party has had their wehrmacht in place for a long time, but that’s no reason to cave and let them take the country.
The Democrats need to get loud, and start fighting for the Constitution, for starters. A good second move is to start fighting for open government.
None of this “designated first amendment zone” nonsense. Also none of this “trying to put Henry Kissenger in charge of the September 11th probe” garbage.
Their strategy has been to keep us putting out brush fires for the last 4 years while they make serious inroads towards fascism.
