Last night I met up with Brian on the train. He presented me with a card he had made for me at work. It was cut from a manila file folder, and decorated with sharpie ink and a cutout figure of himself holding a flower. It was indescribably awesome. I love him.
We went to this restaurant on Gough called Paul K. I had an endive and pear salad and we split a mezza of pomegranate-infused short ribs (“overwhelming” — Brian) which were a bit too sweet, minty lamb kebabs, almond paste, yogurt, hummus, walnut eggplant dip, olives, etc. Very good, apart from the short ribs. The entree was a shared seared ahi steak with chickpeas. Which was awesome. Then dessert — almond ice cream sundae with caramel and fudge sauce and whipped cream. The whole meal was just heavenly. Lots of the usual giggling, too.
Then we walked up Van Ness eight or so blocks to the movie theatre to see “In Good Company”, which we both liked. After the movie we headed home through the chilly SF night, to our waiting cats who complained and cried that we were gone too long. Simon had cold pawpads, poor baby.
I love going on a date with my dear redhead.
