baking on a rainy day »

stormy

January 8, 2005 by Jane

The water on the bay yesterday morning was green and white, rolling up and down in big bumpy, frothy waves. I saw it as I went to and from my doctor appt, which is at the ballpark. As some of you know, the bay comes up right against a promenade at the back of the park. The floating ferry dock in the cove pitched up and down. Waves sprayed the side of the railing. As you walk along the promenade you can see right onto the baseball field. Right now it is sullied by football goalposts and chalky gridlines. The ballpark was totally empty and alone as the wind sliced through and around it. A giant blue tarp full of holes waved from the top of a section of seats.

Today it’s rainy. It was pouring down pretty much from the time we picked up our car share to the moment I got home from returning it to the pod on Stanyan. But we got our stuff done — taking recyclable things to the recycling center by Kezar, taking a bunch of trash (styrofoam and other stuff too big for our garbage can) out to a huge and open dumpster we know of in Potrero. That was fun. Then over to Trader Joe’s to get a bunch of groceries.

And now that that is done, I feel like staying in the rest of the day and puttering. Reading my Alton Brown books, doing laundry.

Tomorrow I think I will make coffee.
