math

My basal metabolic rate is: 1,347 calories per day (calories burned with no effort on my part).

My maintenance level of caloric intake is: 2,087 calories per day (to effect no change in body).

My fat-loss level of caloric intake is: 1,660 calories per day for 3 days in a row, followed by one day at maintenance level (to turn stored fat into energy).

This may be the most boring post ever. Oh well! I’m bookmarkin it anyway.

Actually, it’s not boring at all, since it tells me the reason I’m not losing any weight is that I may be consuming too few calories. I’ve been taking in about 1,600-1,650 a day, exercising like a maniac and I’m like, twice your size. I mean, not in the sense of fatness. Like, if we were both at our peaking fighting weights, I’d STILL be twice your size.

Also, I didn’t realize you should do the maintenance thing after three days. Is that like, every third day? LIke, three days on, one day off, three days on, one day off, so to speak?

Yes! If you consume too FEW calories, your body says to itself, “OMG we’re STARVING!” and metabolism slows way down, as does the rate of calorie burning. “Must store energy,” body thinks.

You need to find your basal metabolic rate, and your maintenance level. You go up to maintenance level every four days just to keep your metabolism from switching over to famine mode.

I can send you the formula if you want, shoot me an email!

Oh, I know about the starvation syndrome thing. I just didn’t realize that 1,600 calories a day was that low. I figured “average” maintenance was about 2,000, so 1,600 was like, weight loss but not starvation.

I just did a whole profile thingy at fitday. I’d forgotten all about that.

Wow, that is some highly awesome and useful information! Could you send me the formula as well? Bluemirage21@aol.com So, diet for three days, eat normal for one? Very interesting!
