Thanksgiving was great. The brining of the turkey was absolutely successful and produced the tenderest juiciest turkey I have ever eaten. The corn bread stuffing was amazing. The gravy was superb, thank you Stephen. In fact, I should thank Stephen for nearly everything since I really doubt I could have done it without him. Everything was fab, and it took a day and a half to fully clean up, but now I sit in my apartment surrounded by the fragrance of the turkey stock simmering away on the stove, soon to be made into turkey barley soup.

Today my mom and I went out to breakfast, then took the train to Hayes Valley. It was only 10am though, and nothing much opens in that part of town until 11am. Which is dumb, but whatever. We just went to Frjtz instead and I drank an entire pot of green tea. Which was awesome because I really had to pee already. I went to use their restroom and found that it had NO LIGHTBULB. I asked one of the waiters who said, we must be out of lightbulbs. Grr! I wondered if I should pee in a bathroom with black walls lit only by a blacklight and a glow-in-the-dark toilet seat. Classy! No thanks.

So we left and ended up in this little lingerie boutique, just intending to maybe see if they had any comfortable thongs. The salesgirl talked me into having my bra size calibrated, and as I had suspected, I have been wearing ill-fitting and cheap bras. In fact today I was wearing my very last Victoria’s Secret bra, purchased seven years ago, incredibly. I haven’t shopped there in at least four years. Their lingerie is the cheapest of trash.

She brought me a couple bras to try and as soon as they were on my body I realized how wrong all of my bras truly are. These ones fit magically, like a dream, with sturdy support but also the softness of skin. Wheee! I suddenly wanted to go home and throw away half my bras (when I got home, I did). I asked if I could wear the black one right now and throw away my old Vicky’s junk. I don’t think I will ever buy a cheap bra again. There is simply too much at stake! I spend a LOT of time hitching fallen bra straps back onto my shoulders.

After making my “investment,” we walked back to Market in the low and blinding winter sunshine, and headed back home on the train.

Now I am off to the market to get all the vegetables for my soup. Husband is at a training event in Stockton and he should be home just in time for it to be done. Mmmmm.

I am totally going back there. So dangerous. Just need to figure out first what kinds of bras I need now that I’ve just thrown away four of them. Hell, I may just get another two like I just bought, only in opposite colors (black & nude)!

I think the brand is “liz” and they are Brasilian (?). You can spot them because they have a teeny silver ring attached right between the cups. They were actually the more reasonably priced of the ones I saw ($36 & $49). I actually saw a bra there for $230. Whoa.

I have no idea. Maybe these ones just don’t slip and loosen as much?

I am actually excited to handwash my braaaas.
