Brian gave me a Palm Zire 72s for my birthday and I am getting it all set up today. I even finally used Bluetooth for the first time. I just finished downloading a free trial of this app that lets you record your meals, exercise, and all-around caloric intake every day. It also came with a very large food database. Just recording what you eat each day apparently makes a big difference in healthy eating.

I had a Palm device about six years ago back when they were much heavier, not in color, and didn’t do nearly as much. This thing is pretty cool. Let’s see if I can use it toward its full potential this time.

I watched a little bit of the Today Show the other day because my ex-roommate was in one of the stories very briefly. I also caught the movie review segment, where irrelevant freakshow Gene Shalit gave a particularly ignorant and hostile review to “Brokeback Mountain,” describing the Jack character as a “sexual predator.” Maybe this will be the thing that finally gets this fuckwit off the air. Man, he must be really bitter that his son is an out and proud gay man.

Drinking my coffee this morning, caught the last two thirds of the little indie movie “The Daytrippers”. See this if you haven’t before. Parker Posey, Hope Davis, Liev Schreiber, Campbell Scott, Ann Meara, Marcia Gay Harden, and Stanley Tucci — how can you go wrong? Well you just can’t.

    calorie counting

Of course you realise there is no magic in recording what you eat each day. Its how you read and analyze what you eat and use that information to _plan ahead_ what you are going to eat in the future is what makes it work. Writing down what you eat is also pretty much the same thing as calorie counting. It just sounds more sophisticated. Good luck with it. It does work, but it takes effort.
