I just got a handheld Delphi xm satellite radio device for $100. Yay for mail-in rebates! We already have it in the car, but I want to use it at work or on the train, too.
Though if I can’t get a good signal from my desk here I may have a problem. My cube is by a window so hopefully that will suffice. When we were in Arizona, ths signal on the xm radio would always disappear the moment we entered a parking garage. All that cement.
While at amazon.com, I also picked up some books: “Don’t Make Me Think,” which is a book about web usability, natch, and the Philip Pullman “His Dark Materials” trilogy, which is a series of acclaimed children’s books that take an anti-organized religion viewpoint. Kind of the anti-Narnia. Can’t wait. Oh and I finally got “In Cold Blood.”
Now it is time to eat my tunar sammich. Martha Stewart suggested on her show the other day that one can try diced apples in tuna salad. So I did. We’ll see how that goes. I KNOW, IT’S FASCINATING.
Is your (silly) b-day gift from me there yet???
No I didn’t get it! Eek. Was it an envelope or a parcel or a box??
It’s a big padded envelope. No worries, I sent it media mail, so it’s probably taking awhile.
you’ve been reading the new yorker!
On the train this morning in fact!! Yay.
is that how you found out about pullman? i did…and now want to buy the books. tell me how they are..
Yes it is, I happened to read the article today, and amazon had the trilogy in trade paperback for like $25.
I will post once I’ve read them, sounds like they will be a brisk but fulfilling read.
i love phillip pullman! you will love him!
i love the pullman books too. i reread them every couple years. so good. you will CRY jane.
xo
rena
But I don’t want to cry! Or maybe I do?
I love that dreamy fantasy stuff, like this book called “The Silver Crown” which I read when I was a kid. It starts off with this girl’s house blowing up with her whole family in it and then all this creepy magical adventure stuff happens blah blah. Kids love it when a book has an “edge” to it and isn’t all stupid and predictable.
You’re not kidding
I was bawling like a baby during the third book.
ooo…new pullman books, and it is anti-organized religion? Okay now I’m intrigued…hm I wonder if barnes and noble has them? I’ll have to go check!
I want satellite radio so bad then I could get rid of this stupid ass iPod and live Apple free for the rest of my life.
since youre the bosshog at all things websites, maybe you can answer this question.
how hard is it to upgrade an existing website? the one i am speaking of is hosted by findfast and seriously needs a facelift…
