my temperature took a dive

February 23, 2006 by Jane

It’s a beautiful sunny day. The weather finally warmed up a little.

Nonetheless, I am down — our efforts to replicate our combined genetic material have again come to naught.

And now I am contemplating taking a two-month hiatus from these efforts, so that we can spare our future offspring the lifetime curse of a birthday adjacent to Christmas — a holiday for a religion I don’t even subscribe to.

I was hoping this would be easy. It was easy when it was an accident. But I guess that’s how it goes.

Time to eat the chocolate!

I’m guessing you’re charting your temp? Some say it’s best to chart so you get a better idea of when you are ovulating and to know if there is anything unusual about your cycles (short luteal periods, for example, or the need for Clomid for increased cervical mucus). Others say that it causes too much stress because then it’s a task instead of being spontaneous.

Brian is born two days before Christmas, and his brother (a valentine’s baby) is born the week of Thanksgiving. Both suffer from the terrible “oops, I forgot your birthday” excuses from family, friends and coworkers since their birthdays coincide with Thanksgiving and Xmas.

Yes I have been charting my temperature. It’s an incredibly accurate way to predict ovulation and menses. I like it, just from a scientific viewpoint.

My birthday is eleven days after xmas. It seems to be easily forgotten, people are pretty burned out by then. I would love to have a late winter or spring baby.

I love charting too. Some find it frustrating as they fail to do it daily, others find it to be an inconvenience, whilst others grow increasingly angry with every passing month.

I love it because I’m a science nerd, and charting graphs is always fun.

Keep your head up! Try not to stress too much, though I’m sure that’s easier said than done. Yeah, accidents always are easier, hence the word accidents 😉 That’s a really nice thing for you to do, but, the baby could be premature anyways…so you might as well keep trying…however, perhaps *not* trying, might stress you out less, and yield results? GOOD LUCK!

Thanks 🙂 I don’t even feel like I am that stressed about it though. I’m just kind of tracking my temp and following the chart. I have a healthy libido and I think I’m being sensible. I’m not really falling apart over this — after all it’s only been 4 months. I guess we just haven’t launched that one perfect little sperm with enough determination and endurance to do its goddamn job yet 😉

Well, that’s good! True, 4 months isn’t that long 🙂 Hahaha, well, tell those sperm to shape up, jeesh!
