I am really terrible at this game, but I don’t care. It’s like bowling in that way. I don’t really play to win.
My cat Simon can’t stand it when doors in the house are closed, especially if I am on the other side. This morning he was outside the bedroom door, having already been fed, and could have hung out in the office with Brian, but instead stood at the bedroom door crying loudly for me. That’s true love. Also, he’s truly possessive of me.
We have plane tickets to Chicago now: April 22 – 29. I’m already bouncing around with becitement. We will also be making a trip to Michigan for a couple of days to see the in-laws.
In other travel news, I want to go to New York for another visit, as I haven’t been since October of 2002. I loved that city, even after just a tiny taste. I still don’t know if I could ever live there, but I wouldn’t completely rule it out.
Also need to visit Virginia and Seattle again, for family. A part of me wants to rent a car (or even borrow my dad’s) and go to Olympia for a day while I’m up there. I only lived in Oly for just over two years, but those two years were life-altering. I moved to Olympia as a naive small-town teenager, and left Olympia as a much more adventurous 21-year-old — driving south on I-5 with everything I owned in the back of my very tiny car.
Recently I was contacted by an old friend from those days. His name is Ian and we were pals back when we were young and impoverished in the East Bay. We lost contact many years ago, I think it must have been when he moved to Portland. Anyway I always thought of him as one of the kindest people I had ever met. How cool then that he randomly came across my pictures online and sent me a message from his home in Tokyo.
What’s on tv now: Hey! It’s White Sox vs. Diamondbacks on WGN! Oh happy day.
Are you gonna have time to come up to WI, or shall Jesse and I come down again?
I would love to come up to Milwaukee again. How long is the drive from Chicago? We plan to rent a car for part of the trip, so if it’s only a couple hours away we can totally come up there.
It’s only like an hour and 20 minutes, if there is no traffic. It’s like 70 miles. I will take you thrifting….
Maybe we can come down, too, on a weekend day. Jesse and I love excuses to eat at the diner…

If you are thinking about VA, I’m going to be there June 30-July 8. Mom
