you’re on top of the world again

March 18, 2006 by Jane

I made my famous Best Oatmeal in the World today. Rolled oats, milk, water, salt, cooked chopped fresh apple, raisins, a teaspoon of brown sugar, and cinnamon. It’s purrfect.

I also looked around on my computer for my old resume, which has not been updated in over five years. Could not find it. Looked on my server, it’s not there. I was a bit bummed out, then remembered that my site was once hosted on another server many years ago; could it still be there? Sure enough, my account was still there, and I even remembered the location of my resume. Ah. HTML tables. Good times.

This morning my hair looks like I wish it would look every day. All wavy and curly and bedhead and sexy. Oh good hair day, please stay forever.

Listening to:

Plans for Chicago trip are in place: the flight, the hotel, staying with friends in Lincoln Square, driving a rented car to Midland, Michigan, coming back for a friday night in Chicago before flying home again.

It randomly occured to me yesterday that back in the day when I used to listen to Unwound all the time that they had this song (“Kantina”) which had the chorus: “wait, don’t go, stay” etc etc, which was sort of yelled in an agonizing and demanding way. This occured to me as I was listening to “Stay Don’t Go” by the band Spoon. In the Unwound song, the plea sounds sort of whiny and codependent and tragic. In the Spoon song, well… If you’ve heard it, you know that the whole song sounds like… um. Let’s just say it gives me a “special feeling inside” and leave it at that. I should cue these two songs up back to back and see which one is more persuasive.

The sky is finally blue. Today I am walking to Cole Valley to drink coffee and read magazines, then I shall watch the baseball, clean the house, et cetera.
