I can dream »

This week at work has been slow like glacier. Zzzz.

I have been to the gym thrice, which is good considering that tonight’s plans include a fabulous multi-course meal prepared by my friend the chef. No idea what we’re in for, but I know it will be good times.

I am a very good girl and am selling a used bag to buy a new bag. That’s what I do. New bag gets here on Monday. It is very pretty, and I am going to pet it and hold it and put my things into it.

Today since I had nothing else to do, I offered to copy edit my pal’s thesis proposal. It was only six pages, but I found myself really enjoying it. I even made a few queries. I miss editing. I feel like it’s hard to break into, though. Like I can’t get any experience unless I already have experience. All I have right now is desire and my framed certification.

In other news: the novel goes well. I find that it’s a lot easier when I am not rushing myself and working on it as slowly as I can, one sentence at a time.

The first time I wrote a “novel” (term used very loosely), when I was 17, I remember how much I obsessed over things like what font to use (!), and what the title should be, and what stupid song lyrics I should put before every chapter. You know, things that had nothing to do with the story.

I haven’t even begun to come up with a title for this book. It seems like that will come last, and right now I frankly don’t think about it at all.

          That is so sweet!

Actually I don’t carry that Ellen Tracy, it just sits in my closet. If you want to have another look at it I would sell it to you… I’m trying to consolidate a bit.

It is indeed Stephen! He posts on WX.

Stephen, Fayrene and I were on a food-centric board on WX back in the day (well, the early Salon pay-to-play day). He was still in school at the time and he was working on a plan to do that thing where you make frozen dinners for rich folks who wanted to pretend they could cook. Lost touch after the Briney took in Pie. Despite my hatred of culinary schools I hope he is doing great.

Also, I thought he was in NYC… what is he doing in the Bay Area? Or was I wrong about NYC?

Also also– Tonight I kissed a girl I am head over heals in lust with… this is the only place I’m going to write about it for now.

He is doing great. He moved here to SF about a year and a half ago.

          Kissing is fun. NICE WORK.

would you ever take a writing class? or do you find it better/easier working on your own?

    good luck w/ yr writing!

Thanks! I have actually been thinking about taking a class mainly because it would provide discipline and feedback.
