still life

June 27, 2006 by Jane

I’m bringing my camera with me to work tomorrow. Let’s see if I can find any interesting shots.

Speaking of pictures, I have two fat photo albums on my desk full of prints that need to be scanned and uploaded. I tried to do this a few years ago, but on a very shitty scanner so the pics did not turn out well at all. I’ll have better luck this time.

The photos are all from the 1990s. I love looking at them; they so perfectly capture a very unique time in my life. Pictures of bands I loved and considered friends. Places that I frequented in the towns I’ve lived in. People who have disappeared from my life, or in a couple of sad cases, disappeared altogether. The many colors of my hair. Sure, my early twenties were filled with a certain amount of pain and regret, like anyone else’s. But man, my life was incredibly exciting back then, and at the time, I didn’t even know it. I got to do things that really, most people never get to do. I took it for granted, probably, because at the time, it was just everyday life.

I know I said this a couple days ago (is anyone reading this?), but again, Allison will know what I’m talking about.

I am totally going through that transition right now, where your “scene” changes from being on your skin to being in your heart…

I am sending you the new Marked Men album ’cause I think you will like it, a lot!

      Awesome, thank you!

Last night looking through my pics I found a cute one of me and Simon, which reminded me that yes, I used to wear a studded collar around my neck all the time. Heh.

    Is anyone reading this?

Yes I am!!! I love your blog/journal/thoughts/life/rants whatever you call it. I am a huge cat lover, Bush hater, wish I was a writer, straight talking kind of gal. I enjoy hearing about your life, places & thoughts. I started reading about two years ago, linked though Brians journal into yours and (sorry Brian) quit reading his and started reading yours. I am a friend of Brian’s family. – Dawn (Little ol’ town of Midland)

I pretty much read all of your posts. Except for when I’m in full reclusive mode. What can I say, sometimes I only have time for illegally downloaded wrestling shows and alcohol. Just like everybody else.

If you ever want some feedback on some nudie shots of yourself, don’t hesitate to email me. Hee hee, take that, Brian!

Let me know next time you are in reclusive mode so I can post all of my most personal, embarrassing fantasies. THANKS

    photo opportunity

I have started carrying my smaller camera around with me everywhere now too. I blame flickr! Its sadly addictive, isn’t it? I must say the quality of my photos have gone down, but the quantity has gone up considerably. I don’t know if its just because of flickr, or whether London is just more inspring than SF ever was.

      Re: photo opportunity

I bet both are right. I’m so bored with SF 🙁

I’m so excited to go to Washington in August I can barely stand it.
