I think that the best mix tape anyone ever made for me was the one Iain Salazar sent me in 1996. Every song was perfect and almost every song introduced me to a band that I still love. Thanks Iain! You’ll never know how much you meant to me.

The other day I downloaded a song from this mix tape called “Penpals” by the band Sloan. It was there because, well, Iain and I were penpals. Here is the last verse:

“I worship all your handsome words
To me you seem giant
You’re so cool but you know that
I hope your letters never stop
You are surely special
I like you, I like you
La la la
You are surely special
I like you, I like you
La la la”

It’s nice when the written lyrics for a song go “la la la.”

Tonight I entered the world of podcasts. As with many things, I guess I am late to the party, but I am such a fast learner!

Oh and one more thing: the wonders of flickr illustrate how good our view was last night at the Spoon show. Other things to note in that photo: beer bottle within reach of Mr Daniel at all times; obnoxious people standing behind us with their backs to the band; bouncers all wearing earplugs….
