Last night we attended a free screening of “Stranger Than Fiction.” I got the passes thanks to being an Entertainment Weekly reader. Yay! It was actually pretty good overall, and there were a few surprises. Good acting, etc etc. But mainly I wanted to say that prominently featured in one scene is a show flyer for the Oakland band Rogue Wave. I thought that was pretty random. I went to an A’s game with one of those guys in April. Well, I went WITH my friend Whitney, and we tailgated with Zach, who was the guy who procured the tickets. Etc. That was the back-to-back-to-back home runs game that seemed like it might get rained out.

Oh and Will Ferrell has really tiny eyes. I wonder if that makes it harder to “emote.” Yeah, I realize that is a dumb question.

My legs have almost recovered from the hell I subjected them to last weekend (flying cross country twice in a span of three days). This morning I walked a mile and a half, then I did that again just now at the gym. The sky is crystal clear, and I looked out over the water at the Claremont Hotel shining in the distance, perched atop the Oakland hills. I have still never been inside.

because of this post, i was on the lookout for the rogue wave poster

Yeah. I saw it tonight and couldn’t get past Will Ferrell’s tiny close together eyes on his big face. It was kind of distracting.

Also, I thought about how you found that flickr photo of the main character in your book. So weird. Maybe he will show up and confront you about whatever you’re doing to him.

Maybe the make-up person is to blame, because I don’t think I have ever had a problem with his weird eyes before.

I don’t think that flickr person would like some of the things I am doing to him. But at least I don’t murder him.
